An opportunity has arisen for a Cyber Security Analyst (SOC L1) to join a global leading Security Operations Centre specialising in Security analysis & investigation support to all BAU Cyber Security activities for clients within Big Data, Cloud Infrastructures, and Cyber Security industries. The Cyber Security Analyst (SOC L1) will be working within a 24x7 SOC operational support environment incorporating a tiered Security support model across a range of Security support functions. Your mission will be to proactively monitor and hunt, detect, and respond to information security threats. You will help to protect an organisation by employing a range of technologies and processes to prevent, detect and manage cyber threats. This can include the protection of computers, data, networks, and applications.

Cyber Security Analyst - Responsibilities;

  • Monitor for suspicious & unusual activities, including attacks, intrusions, unauthorised, or illegal activity
  • Use high-tech analytical tools to determine emerging threat patterns and possible vulnerabilities
  • Investigate security breaches, cyber security incidents & provide incident response
  • Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and data infrastructures, including firewalls and data encryption programs
  • Liaise with primary stakeholders on cyber security issues and provide future guidance
  • Document security breaches, assess the damage they cause, & rectify detected vulnerabilities to a high-security standard
  • Collaborate with security teams to perform tests & uncover network vulnerabilities


Cyber Security Analyst - Requirements & Experience;

  • Experience within a Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment or similar
  • SC clearance & Nuclear Regulation clearance (British or British Passport Holder)
  • Exceptional IT skills, including knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, hardware, & security
  • Competencies in cyber security risks associated with various technologies
  • Competencies in security technologies such as network and application firewalls, host intrusion prevention, & anti-virus
  • Great communicational skills with technical and non-technical team members & stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, & ability to analyse complex technical information in order to identify patterns and trends
  • An ability to work under high-demands during times of high-level threats

Cyber Security Analyst - Technologies;

Management, maintenance, monitoring, security event investigation & reporting using:

  • SIEM (Security Information & Event Management) - Working knowledge of NetIQ Sentinel or McAfee products is an advantage
  • Network IDS/IPS: management - working knowledge of McAfee or Sourcefire IDS/IPS solutions is an advantage
  • WAF (Web Application Firewalls) - working knowledge of Imperva or F5 WAF products is an advantage


Cyber Security Analyst - Rotational Shift Pattern;

  • 2/3 day shifts, then by 2/3 night shifts, followed by 4 paid days off
  • 12 working hours per day
  • Guaranteed 2 weekends off each month
  • Once a week in the office during the day
