(Senor) Electrical Commissioning Engineer - Data Centers
Location - North Carolina - 25% travel
Salary - $150k - $200k dependent on experience
We’re looking for a (Senior) Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of critical-facility projects. The role centres on verifying electrical systems, checking performance against project intent, and ensuring everything is safe, reliable, and ready for operation.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical commissioning tasks across the project lifecycle.
- Use a range of electrical test instruments to check equipment and system behaviour.
- Review drawings, technical documents, and contractor information to confirm design intent.
- Observe system start-up, functional checks, and integrated tests for electrical infrastructure.
- Produce clear documentation, including notes from meetings, site findings, and follow-up actions.
- Identify issues that need correction and report them through the appropriate project channels.
- Help develop electrical testing and operating procedures for project use.
- Provide support to the project team by answering technical queries when required.
- Work safely around energised equipment and understand the characteristics of AC and DC power systems.
- Contribute to project coordination, scheduling, and general administrative tasks.
What You’ll Need
- A degree in engineering or relevant experience in electrical systems or commissioning.
- Solid understanding of electrical distribution systems and live-equipment environments.
- Confidence interpreting technical documents and communicating clearly in writing and in person.
- Comfortable using basic software tools for reporting and document control.
- Able to work through practical problems on site using sound judgement.
- Physically capable of working in busy construction environments and handling equipment when needed.
- Openness to extended hours or weekend work depending on project timelines.
