Role

As the Commissioning Director - Data Centers, you will take full ownership of validating a major new data facility from construction through to operational readiness. This is a highly visible leadership role driving quality, safety, and performance across a fast-moving project with significant complexity and stakeholder involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and refine commissioning strategies, testing protocols, and integrated system checks.
  • Build strong working relationships with construction teams, operations leaders, engineers, and technical specialists.
  • Oversee the development of acceptance criteria, documentation, test scripts, and system verification procedures.
  • Identify risks early, implement corrective actions, and safeguard schedule, cost, and quality outcomes.
  • Coordinate with off-site equipment and modular suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Support the smooth transition from construction to operations, ensuring all systems are accurately captured, documented, and compliant.
  • Drive continuous improvement by standardising best practices and integrating lessons learned into future programs.
  • Provide leadership presence on site, acting as a technical and operational focal point during high-pressure phases.
  • Participate in system assessments, factory testing, and readiness reviews as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • A technical degree or equivalent experience within electrical, mechanical, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • 5+ years’ experience in commissioning within mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong capability in resolving complex technical challenges and coordinating diverse engineering disciplines.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in fast-paced, demanding environments.
  • Project management capability; certifications such as PMP or commissioning qualifications are an advantage.
  • A structured, collaborative leadership style with clear communication and strong decision-making skills.
