We recently sat down for a chat with Nicci Sharp, Empiric's USA CEO, at our New York headquarters to discuss how economic changes and technological advancements are shaping the future of nCino, the evolving FTE market, and tips on making candidate profiles stand out in the broader nCino space.
nCino in 2024: A Year of Positive Change
Nicci began by highlighting the stark contrast between the nCino market in 2023 and 2024. "The biggest driver within the nCino space so far this year has actually been the cut in interest rates in the United States back in September," he explained. "That's been a really positive change. I think a lot of banks have started to look at investment into loan platforms. "This shift has led to significant market activity:
- A surge in new nCino projects and implementations
- Increased demand for both full-time hires and consultants
- Growing investment in nCino across the United States
Looking ahead, Nicci expressed optimism about the market's trajectory: "If we continue to see that trend in interest rates going through small cuts over the next 12 to 18 months, I think we're going to see a continued increase in investment in nCino projects across the United States."
Recent financial reports from nCino back up this positive movement too - Q2 of fiscal year 2025 saw nCino report total revenues of $132.4 million, a 13% increase year-over-year.
Building a Strong nCino Community
With the surge in customer requests, Empiric has focused on cultivating a robust nCino talent community. Nicci emphasized the importance of this approach: "For us to be able to deliver top resources at speed, we really need to have our candidate community organized in a very smart, intelligent way."
Key aspects of Empiric's community-building strategy include:
- Meticulously organizing talent by location, key skills, and preferred work type (consultant or FTE)
- Dedicating significant time to developing relationships within the candidate community – attending conferences, hosting webinars, engaging directly on social platforms
- Leveraging these relationships to quickly supply talent to customers
"As the market continues to improve and probably become more difficult to navigate," Nicci added, "the relationships we have with that candidate community are going to be the most valuable thing in terms of us being able to help our customers and supply talent very quickly."
Standing Out in a Competitive nCino Job Market
Nicci offered valuable advice for professionals looking to differentiate themselves: "We get a lot of questions from candidates asking us how to differentiate themselves in the marketplace, how to get their resumes in the right place to secure an offer. And it's a super valid question as we go into what's definitely going to be a less saturated candidate market." He emphasized, "It's really important to make sure that your resume highlights your achievements and not just your key skills. I think a lot of people go wrong there. They go really heavy on skills and they don't really touch so much on achievements." Nicci suggested highlighting specific achievements such as:
- Projects completed ahead of time or under budget
- Improvements in customer experience
- Decreased approval times
- Overall contributions to successful projects
"Hiring managers want to know you've been part of a successful project," he concluded. "It's really important bit of advice to highlight that."
