ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join an exciting and innovative project. The successful candidate will support a critical biomedical application on a multiple year programme.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will support a critical biomedical application carrying out the following tasks:

• Developing scalable processing solutions for "HPC-like" computing backends
• Building web GUIs for workflow initiation and navigation of data structures
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for bioimage analysis
• Implement and enhance image processing tasks using modern frameworks
• Collaborate on creating user-facing applications with Python and web technologies
• Ensure high performance and reliability in cloud or HPC-like environments

CORE CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

• Strong mathematical background, exploratory data analysis, and statistical methodologies
• 4+ years experience with Python or R for data pipelines
• 4+ years experience working with SQL
• 3+ years experience in data pipeline maintenance and architecture concepts
• Familiarity with cloud technologies like Airflow, Glue, Dataflow, BigQuery, S3, etc
• Excellent knowledge of relational databases, JSON, XML, YAML, and Unix systems
• Experience with Git, Gitflow, and DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Bamboo, Jenkins, Terraform)
