Test Manager
- Location: 2 days onsite in Walsall, 3 days remote
- Working Hours: 37 per week
- IR35 status: Outside
- Contract Length: 6 months
Overview of Role:
This role is responsible for shaping and delivering the testing approach across a number of technology-driven initiatives.
The successful candidate will coordinate closely with delivery, product, and technical teams to ensure that solution quality is Embedded from planning through to release, and that all testing activities are appropriately aligned to the broader programme roadmap.
Core Accountabilities:
- Define and oversee all aspects of the testing life cycle across assigned workstreams
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to produce structured test plans that align with agreed delivery goals and timescales
- Coordinate and manage key testing phases including user-led testing, integration validation, and regression checks
- Implement a pragmatic, risk-aware approach to test coverage, spanning both functional and technical aspects
- Set up and run effective processes for tracking, triaging, and resolving issues identified during test phases
- Partner with teams responsible for final release and readiness activities to ensure scenarios are fully validated before deployment
- Produce regular updates on testing progress, blockers, and overall quality status for programme stakeholders
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of testing tools, standards, and automation practices
- Serve as a central quality advocate, ensuring that confidence in the solution is maintained throughout the delivery life cycle
Experience and Attributes Required:
- Prior experience in a test leadership or quality assurance role within a large-scale technical delivery context
- Strong grasp of end-to-end testing activities and methodologies, including hands-on experience with user testing, system-level validation, and automation strategies
- Comfortable working in environments that blend iterative (Agile) and more structured (hybrid) delivery approaches
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously
- Familiarity with test and issue tracking tools such as Zephyr, Xray, or equivalents
- Experience working on complex platforms or large-scale configurable systems is desirable
- Confident communicator with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups
- Solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, delivery, and continuous improvement
